Green bus in Corfu Town |
Green buses
are not necessarily green. When waiting at any particular bus
stop, keep a look out. Some areas don’t have any benches or designated enclosures. So it is wise
to wave down the approaching bus. Make sure the driver acknowledges your
company otherwise it will continue without stopping. In some towns, you will only see a
small time table which is generally attached to a pole. Prices vary. For example: riding from the north of the island to the town is 4 Euros ($4.50) per person one way. The busses are very comfortable and are equipped with WiFi, air conditioning, armrests, footrests, overhead and belly storage, seatbelts, reclining seats, seat trays, tinted windows, and emergency exits. They do not have toilet access so make sure to use one before boarding. Many journeys are short but some can take about 2 hours.
The main
bus terminal is about a 10 minute walk to the airport. It has been recently relocated to a more desirable facility. It is now in close proximity
to Lidl which is a highly popular German shopping center which also provides fresh pastries. They do accept cards and no membership is needed.
